Kickoff meeting held in BerlinSunday, 03 April 2011 01:00
This weekend, on April 2/3 2011, the PRIME-XS Kickoff meeting was held in Berlin, Germany. This location was chosen because the Proteomic Forum meeting was being organized in the following week. The Kickoff meeting was a great succes and it was attended by approximately 40 people, representing 11 of the partners of the PRIME-XS Consoritium. The meeting started with an introduction to the project by coordinator prof. dr. Albert Heck and all partners introduced themselves, their institutes and the local people involved in the project. Following these partner introductions, the four Joint Research Activitities (JRAs) were discussed extensively in breakout sessions.
In the evening, a bicycle tour through Berlin was organized for all participants, which included visits to many well-known sites in Berlin, such as the Brandenburger Tor, Checkpoint Charlie and the remains of the Berlin Wall. The bicycle tour ended at a typical German "Biergarten" for dinner and drinks.
The next day, the Kickoff meeting continued with a presentation on the rules and regulations concering EU projects by Reinout Raijmakers and an introduction to the first version of the project submission system for the project by the people from the VIB. Also discussed were the details of the Transnational Access programme and the meeting concluded with a presentation by Albert Heck of all courses, meetings and events that will be organized in the Networking programme.
